My name is Barbara Cavazos, and I am the President of the Residence Hall Association here at Texas State for the 2017-2018 academic school year. I started my journey with RHA when I became the treasurer of Elliott Hall my freshman year. As a sophomore I briefly became the Vice President of Elliott hall before I officially joined the executive board of RHA as the new Vice President. Becoming part of the executive board was scary, but with the help of my other executive members it was great. It was a good year and I enjoyed it so much I decided to run for president and I was elected. This upcoming year, I will be a junior majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Forensic Psychology, and I will be living in the newly remodeled Arnold Hall.
One of my favorite memories of last year was being able to meet and interact with so many people. Some of the hall council members even became good friends of mine. I love being involved in my campus so I volunteered my time to Bobcat Build and also being a guide for Bobcat Day. Some fun facts about me are that I play guitar and I lived most of my life in a ranch.
As the President I will be overseeing all the presidents in hall council. I also serve as a parliamentarian for all General Assemblies meetings, set all meeting agendas, and act as a liaison and representative for RHA to off and on campus organizations.
I am really excited to be with RHA for my third year and be able to work with my fellow e-board members. My goal this year is being able to create a great community between all the halls and make this an awesome year for the hall councils and RHA.
